Application Insights agent fails to authenticate when using managed identity. #820
This introduced a bug causing trailing slashes to appear in the target audience while attempting to use managed identity for authentication. Appinsights has fixed this bug in version 3.7.2.
Users who experience this issue should see something like this in their Function's logs
Azure Identity => ERROR in getToken() call for scopes [https://monitor.azure.com//.default]: Managed Identity authentication is not available.
Some workarounds that users can try
Switch Application Insights to connection string authentication by renaming the App Setting APPLICATIONINSIGHTS_AUTHENTICATION_STRING.
Pin the function host version to 4.1037 image DOCKER|mcr.microsoft.com/azure-functions/java:4.1037.1-5-java17-appservice
Override the Agent version by following the this wiki post and target latest version of the agent of Application Insights Java 3.7.2
