What changed

  • Moved documentation/ai_agents.en.md to documentation/ai_agents/_index.en.md so the page is a section (front matter unchanged; URL /documentation/ai_agents/ unchanged, no alias needed).
  • Reorganised the page into these H2 sections:
    1. Why agents write old Selenium: two paragraphs (the old intro condensed), linking the blog post.
    2. Set up your agent: the existing resource table and llms.txt explanation, then per-tool subsections with one copy-ready fenced snippet each: Claude Code (CLAUDE.md), Cursor (.cursor/rules/selenium.mdc), VS Code Copilot (.github/copilot-instructions.md), Codex (AGENTS.md), other tools. Each snippet points at https://www.selenium.dev/llms.txt and the examples directory.
    3. Rules file: the existing paste-ready block and the existing per-binding tabpane (it already was one), plus the former "What to correct, and why" reasoning as an H3.
    4. Let the agent drive a real browser (with the former "Let the agent read the failure" as an H3).
    5. Reviewing agent-written tests: review checklist, the explicit "do not fix flaky tests with sleeps or timeouts" point, and the former "A workflow that works" as an H3.
    6. Outdated patterns: short pointer to /documentation/ai_agents/outdated_patterns/ (D5).
  • The existing "Next steps" list is kept as a final H2 (it was not in the requested section list; easy to drop if unwanted).
  • No Docsy click-to-copy; plain fenced blocks only.

Why

Plan item D1: the page was a long essay. Readers need to find the file their tool reads, paste a snippet, and get the full rules block, with the explanation available but not in the way.

Acceptance criteria

  • H2 sections 1-6 present and in order; all prior substantive content kept (nothing removed except duplicated framing sentences merged into the intro).
  • Per-tool subsections for Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code Copilot, Codex, other, each with a snippet naming the tool's file and pointing at llms.txt and the examples repo.
  • Rules block present; per-binding content already a tabpane (Java, Python, CSharp, Ruby, JavaScript, Kotlin).
  • No whole-section "click to copy".
  • Builds; page renders at /documentation/ai_agents/; sidebar entry still reads "AI Agents".
  • The link to /documentation/ai_agents/outdated_patterns/ is a plain path (a ref would fail the build here). It is dangling until D5 merges.
  • The llms-full.txt note for "Set up your agent" was not added: D3 is a separate branch and the brief makes it conditional. Follow-up once D3 merges: one line in "Set up your agent" saying https://www.selenium.dev/llms-full.txt has the same curated pages as a single file.

Translated pages affected

None are changed. ai_agents has no ja/pt-br/zh-cn pages, so none need updating.

Checks run

  • Built with the scratchpad helper: no ERROR or WARN output.
  • Generated documentation/ai_agents/index.html exists, title "Using AI coding agents with Selenium", and the left nav entry is "AI Agents" (id="m-documentationai_agents").
  • Rendered output contains the per-binding tabs.
  • git status showed only the one renamed/edited file.
  • Merge note: D5 performs the identical ai_agents.en.md to ai_agents/_index.en.md rename as an unmodified rename. Whichever of D1 and D5 merges second needs a trivial rebase (take the D1 content of _index.en.md).
  • Blog post file is blog/2026/using-ai-agents-with-selenium.md (not .en.md); linked as /blog/2026/using-ai-agents-with-selenium/.

Disclosure

Prepared with Claude (Anthropic); the author reviewed and edited all content.

Turn documentation/ai_agents into a section (_index.en.md; URL
unchanged) and reorganise the page around the workflow a reader
follows: why agents write old Selenium, per-tool setup snippets
(Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code Copilot, Codex, other), the rules
file, letting the agent drive a real browser, reviewing agent-written
tests, and a pointer to the outdated patterns page.

All existing content, including the paste-ready rules block and the
per-binding tabs, is kept. The outdated patterns page is added
separately (D5), so that link is dangling until it lands.
