Device model, version and app version

Model Name: MacBook Pro 16-inch 2023
macOS Version: Tahoe 26.2
App Version: 2026.1.2 (2026.1748)
Safari Version: Version 26.2 (21623.1.14.11.9)

Home Assistant Core Version

2026.1.3

Describe the bug

This is a continuation of #2394. I've had the companion app open on its own twice in the last day.

To Reproduce

I'm not sure yet. None of my previous reproduction steps from #2394 (comment) trigger it.

Expected behavior

The app doesn't open in the middle of an important presentation, giving the user a mild heart attack until they realize that at least it's only open on the secondary display 😄 .

I also am experiencing this same issue. It appears to be tied to the Mac application receiving a notification with a message of clear_notification.

I tried to replicate by firing a notification and clearing it, with no luck. @hbludworth do you have an example that does?

This has recently started happening to me, when I updated to macOS 26.3.1 (25D2128) a couple of days ago. After the subsequent restart, I started noticing that many times when I wake the computer up from sleep Home Assistant has launched.

My instance of #2394 was fixed by disallowing in the OS settings Home Assistant from seeing my Focus status. That is still my setting today, so this is something different.

I can reproduce this on my mac computers. I have a notification that fires when our garage door has been open for 10 minutes that provides actions to close it or ignore the notification. Every time I click/select the "close garage door" action it opens the MacOS Companion app. Part of the notification automation action is that it clears the original notification, that might be the part that launches the app. I can do more experimentation, and/or provide my alert and automation yamls if that would be helpful.

This is still happening with 2026.9.3 and macOS 27.0.1 (build 26A434).

    @slydlake

I had this issue after I enabled the "native" mode.
Just found a solution for me. Force quit the app in the activity monitor and delete the folder: '/Users/USERNAME/Library/Group Containers/group.io.robbie.homeassistant' After that, the app finally started again (since 4 months)
